Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing
Pinkard Building Renovation and Addition
Baltimore, MD

The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing — now the #1 ranked graduate nursing program per US News and #1 in NIH Research funding — occupies an outdated building from the 1990s. This significant renovation and addition (65,000sf) creates a transformative experience for students, faculty and staff with new types of spaces: an active ground floor “Hub” for the life of the school, new student collaboration spaces, more flexible classrooms, expanded conference facilities and new collaborative research spaces. A double-height “Study Cube” of classrooms and study space carved out of the existing building features an innovative double-skin curtainwall. Hord Coplan Macht is the associate architect.
