The new Tanglewood Learning Institute will be an approximately 40,000 GSF facility constructed to house the new Tanglewood Learning Institute program. Weekend educational programming will include: master classes, open rehearsals, workshops, panel discussions, and presentations that allow participants a behind-the-scenes view of music making -- both deepening existing audience connection to music and to reach out to new audiences. This facility contains key spaces such as: a 3,700 sf multi-use space, two 2,000 sf observation spaces, breakout spaces, and a cafe.
During the week, this facility will serve as a rehearsal and teaching facility for the Tanglewood Music Center. The large multi-use studio with retractable seats in the size of the Ozawa stage and can hold rehearsals for a full orchestra, freeing up Ozawa Hall for other uses. Together with Ozawa Hall, this facility will form the heart of the TMC Campus.

The City of Cambridge committed to a Net Zero Action Plan to transform the City into a Net Zero community by 2040. The King Open/Cambridge Street Upper Schools and Community Complex (KOCSUSCC), designed with Arrowstreet, will be the City’s first Net Zero Emissions project and demonstrate the viability of the City’s goal to lead as a carbon neutral municipality. The team – City, Users, and the Design Team collaborated to design a robust envelope, maximize on site generation, minimize energy loads, and commit to the efficient operation of the facilities (273,000 s.f.).
