Tennessee Performing Arts Center

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center, an almost 50-year-old performing arts non-profit, is relocating from its current home downtown to a new waterfront site along the East Bank and neighboring Cumberland Park. Since presenting its first live performances in September 1980, TPAC has grown into an arts and culture leader attracting visitors from across the state and welcoming approximately 435,000 audience members each year. TPAC’s new home will create uniquely memorable theatrical experiences, celebrating the vibrancy of theater in Music City.

WRA, along with BIG and Hastings Architecture are designing a new, larger home to allow TPAC to expand programming to include world-renowned artists, touring Broadway productions, and ballet, opera, and dramatic theatre performances from its three resident companies (Nashville Ballet, Nashville Opera, and Nashville Repertory Theatre) while also growing its nationally recognized arts education programs to serve more students and teachers across the state. This new facility includes four major performance spaces: a 2,600 seat Grand Broadway Theater, A 650 seat Dance / Opera Hall, a flexible Black Box Theater, Cabaret Lounge, and rehearsal rooms.
