This Vision Plan will lay out a blueprint to both preserve the heritage of the distinctive spirit of place that is Mount Auburn Cemetery (MAC) and support its mission to promote the visitor experience and attract new audiences while supporting the cemetery as an active place of commemoration. The rich tapestry of natural beauty, history, and tradition at this historic cemetery provides the canvas for an innovative framework that addresses contemporary issues surrounding life, death, grief, and remembrance within a timeless context. Included in the Vision Plan are strategies for maintaining and elevating the sacred landscape of buildings, monuments, infrastructure, and environmental systems that must continue to collectively support a multiplicity of communities for generations to come.
