CENTER OF GRAVITY and NEW FRONT
The Sadler West Addition completes the “Student Life Neighborhood” at the center of campus as envisioned in the Master Plan. The addition strengthens and activates the “Student Life Walk” while showcasing the student activity through a highly transparent façade. The inward-looking Sadler Center was transformed into an inviting outward-looking beacon creating a new front to the existing building. The Walk creates an accessible physical connection between other precincts of the campus.
Student unions help make memories and build community on campuses. Sometimes we call the Sadler Center a ‘House of Serendipity’ because you don’t necessarily know what’s going to happen around the corner. There’s always going to be something fun and different and exciting.
Eric Margiotta, Director of Student Unions & Engagement
STUDENT AGENCY BUILDING
The new addition serves as a central hub for 11 previously dispersed Student Affairs groups and fosters an active and accessible student-centered environment. It provides access to critical student services and boasts a variety of flexible spaces - both formal and informal - for studying, gathering, and collaboration. Organized along a concourse populated with open seating at many scales as well as views to the outside, warm finishes, and abundant natural light, the project becomes a unique and sought-out space on campus by the students.
